Grace Bershon
Teaching Artist
Grace (she/they) fell in love with movement and ballet at the age of nine. At the age of thirteen she attended the Harid Conservatory, followed by the Houston Ballet School, and the Colorado Ballet School, in addition to summer programming with the School of American Ballet.
Over the years Grace experienced many injuries and chronic pain that at times prevented her from dancing, and required surgery. This ultimately led her to begin approaching and understanding movement and dance through the lens of disability. This was also where her love of yoga began. At the age of eighteen, she began teaching ballet and yoga at a local Arizona studio, where she had the opportunity to work with adults and seniors, expanding her skills in teaching for different bodies and abilities. More recently, Grace participated in a Danceability teacher training program, which focuses on teaching dance to individuals with disabilities, and making movement and dance accessible for everybody. She has also served as an Inclusive Dance Assistant Teacher for two years at Classical Ballet Academy, and this year she is leading all inclusive dance classes at CBA. Grace has been a Direct Support Worker for over five years, and is deeply committed to serving the intellectually and developmentally disabled communities. Her passion and primary goal in teaching is to bring movement and dance to communities and individuals who have historically been excluded and marginalized from traditional forms of dance and yoga. It is Grace’s deeply held belief that movement and dance are for EVERYONE!
